Welcome to my very first blog post! I'm not a writer, and I'm not claiming to be one. But while you're on my site, I thought you might enjoy some content and to learn a little more about what we are about here at Officially Married.
If you know me, you might have heard me say that I do not believe in marriage. This sounds like a ridiculous statement from a professional officiant, but it's true. I do not believe in marriage, I believe in LOVE. I believe that our current wedding industry situation can be a bit over done, and what we really need to get back to focusing on is the UNION. You are joining your lives together and declaring your love for one another. This day isn't about what your families demand, or what napkins you used... it's about the partnership. I always say that I hope the marriage is better than the wedding. You deserve to be your happiness and to feel supported and loved. Never settle.
Sometimes we get married for the wrong reasons, sometimes we get married for all the right reasons and it still doesn't work out... that is life. Being open to love though, is really what it's all about. Love is what brings us together, in this crazy upside down world... love is what we ALL understand.
Something that I can truly stand behind and appreciate is how so many engaged folks are embracing the non-norm. You do not need to have the cookie cutter wedding if it doesn't align with your vision and values. I will always encourage you to do you, boo!
